Spider Man Beyond the Spider Verse has shifted its release date from June 4 to June 25, 2027. The move is aimed at maximizing audience reach during summer break.
Sony Pictures Animation has officially pushed the release date of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse by three weeks. Originally scheduled for June 4, 2027, the animated sequel will now hit theaters on June 25, 2027.
Studio insiders reveal the move was strategic, aiming to align the release with the summer break of all U.S. schools. This shift is expected to boost box office performance.
As of June 4, only about 65% of schools would have been on vacation. By June 25, that figure rises to 100%. The new date is also projected to perform better in international markets.
Beyond the Spider-Verse is the third and final chapter in the critically acclaimed trilogy that began with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and continued with Across the Spider-Verse (2023).
The trilogy has received both commercial success and critical acclaim, with the first film winning the Oscar for Best Animated Feature and the second earning a nomination in the same category.
At CinemaCon earlier this year, Lord teased that the story picks up with Miles Morales on the run from the entire Spider-Verse, hinting at high stakes and emotional depth as Gwen and others try to help him save the family at the heart of the multiverse’s unraveling.
While fans will have to wait a little longer for the trilogy's conclusion, the anticipation continues to grow. Meanwhile, Sony has slotted a new animated comedy, Buds, for March 12, 2027, and a live-action Spider-Noir series starring Nicolas Cage is set to premiere on MGM+ in 2026.
