Liverpool Close to Signing Hugo Ekitike in Blockbuster Deal

Liverpool is on the verge of signing Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike in a deal worth up to €95 million, with personal terms already agreed. The 23-year-old could soon become the Reds' third Bundesliga signing this summer.

Liverpool are on the brink of finalising a deal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker, Hugo Ekitike, with both clubs having reached the framework of an agreement, multiple sources report.

The 23-year-old, who netted 22 goals and provided 12 assists last season, is expected to become Liverpool’s new number 9 following Darwin Nunez’s potential exit.

Ekitike has already agreed personal terms on a six-year contract, and talks between the clubs are now focused on the deal’s structure and add-ons.

According to The Athletic, the deal could exceed €95 million (£82.3m) if all performance-related bonuses are triggered, potentially making Ekitike Frankfurt’s most expensive sale, surpassing the fee received for Randal Kolo Muani.

Liverpool shifted their attention to Ekitike after a failed approach for Newcastle's Alexander Isak. With Newcastle and other Premier League rivals no longer in the race, the Reds are now clear front-runners.

Though Frankfurt have not formally accepted the latest offer, negotiations are said to be progressing positively. A full agreement could be reached within days, making Ekitike the third Bundesliga player to join Liverpool this summer, following Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong.

Ekitike is reportedly keen on the move and sees Anfield as his preferred destination.

Liverpool’s aggressive pursuit of Ekitike shows a clear strategic shift under Arne Slot, focusing on youth, speed, and proven output from Europe’s top leagues.

If this deal is completed, it would mark another significant investment in a new attacking era, especially if Nunez or Diaz exit this summer.

Ekitike’s stats last season prove he’s more than a promising talent. He could be a defining figure in Liverpool’s next chapter. But at nearly €100 million, fans will expect immediate results, and that’s a heavy shirt to wear at Anfield.
